2009 Duck Hunting Season

2009 Duck Hunting Season

With the new season upon us it is often good to reminisce about how good the hunting was and how much better it will this year. As usual there were three different options on the table for the 2009-2010 Arkansas duck season, though the confirmed dates were the same as always. The season dates were posted on the AGFC site as follows:

  • November 21, 2009 through November 29, 2009
  • December 10, 2009 through December 23, 2009
  • December 26, 2009 through January 31, 2010

Recapping The 2009 Duck Hunting Season

Duck bag limits allotted were no more than 6 ducks consisting of: 4 mallards, 2wood ducks, 2 redheads, 1 black duck, 1 pintail, 1 canvasback, 3 mottled duck and 2 scaup. Many Arkansas duck hunter found great success with the record rainfall of 2009. There were many unharvested fields in the delta offering plenty for the ducks to eat. Other duck hunters were not so lucky. Hunting at Long Bell proved to bring nothing more than boredom while luck improved at Bayou Meto. The difficulty is in knowing where the ducks are. This is where guided hunts can improve the score. Experienced guides such as the membership based hunting outfitters of BMW Hunting have property in Alabama, Arkansas, Colorado, Kentucky, Ohio, Nebraska, Tennessee and Wyoming. They have helped put hunters in prime duck hunt locations for some of the best hunting seen this season.

Preparing For The Nest Duck Season

BMW Hunting is now revving for the 2010-2011 duck season with over 60 prime waterfowl hunt properties. Their guided duck and goose hunts include meals and lodgings, hunters simply need to provide their licenses and stamps.
